the kit would worth the equivalent of 2400€ whereas the US$ prices would put it somewhere around 1700€ that's hell of a difference!

$1999 for the body and about $700 for each lens. The North American X-Pro1 is expected to hit US retailers this week however!

Will they eventually package the x pro 1 with a lens for a cheaper price? Or will they keep the body and lens separate. I read somewhere that they would do the package with a lens for $2200 USD. So you would save about a $100 off retail. I hope They do but I think the article was assuming.

Let's hope we get that deal in the US

I assume the US prices are exclusive of sales tax, whereas all prices in the EU are quoted including VAT. That should explain the difference.

There are many camera stores on line that charge NO sales tax in the US. I never once paid sales tax on any camera or lens.

FPC is correct. Careful internet shopping in the US will almost always yield tax-free purchases with free shipping. I can't imagine, unfortunately, walking into a camera store and paying full retail, plus another 6-8% on average for tax.

I see, I usually just buy from Amazon as they are close by and usually gets to me within 2 business days. Sometimes it even takes 1 business day. But if i have waited this long for the xp1 I can wait a week for it to ship. I just don't know how good customer service would be if there was a problem with the camera. I know amazon will take care of it if there was something.
