Thinking Past Firmware 1.01 - Flash Sync Speed

Posing a question here that I'm sure might have crossed some peoples minds,

Can Fuji, though a firmware update, improve on the flash sync speed of the X-Pro1 ?

I ask thins simply because I'm not too sure what about the limiting factor is...

Given the fact that we've got firmware updates for our lenses as well as the camera that seem to be making a world of difference, could this be improved so we get to cut down our ambient exposure even more ?

    Penny for your thoughts...

Not 100% sure, but the limiting factor is the physical shutter speed. This is the fastest time when both curtains leave the sensor totally exposed. I would say this is not a firmware issue.

Nevertheless, some people reported being able to sync to 1/250 with the Fuji flash. I have personally tried that with wireless Cactus v4 triggers and a Nikon flash, but it didn't work for me, as I got that black bar in the bottom part of the frame.

1/250th sec here with no problem.

I have an EF20 and a Nikon SB80DX. 1/250 is fine on hot shoe with both - on rear and forced flash modes, with triggers (pocket wizards) I get a small shadow on bottom. Generally I think this is great! How people got by doing fill-in with 1/60 and long lenses with Nikon F3's I'll never know. Tried 1/500 that DEFINATELY doesn't work haha! More than 50% of frame blacked out ;) I suggest checking your Nikon flash's trigger voltage, some of the older flashes are quite high and can damage camera, then try on hot shoe? The SC17 Nikon sync lead works at 1/250 too. Flash sync will always be limited by shutter opening and closing. Leaf shutter however, like on X100, will give you much more speed. Hope this helps.
