Interesting reading and probably why RAW support is so slow in coming.

And a freezer full of Fuji Neopan Acros and 400H film.

Interesting indeed and shows why people shouldn't be blaming Apple & Adobe.

A very nice article that confirms statements I have received from other RAW converter programmers.

OTOH, given the fact that Fuji's internal RAW converter is actually doing a pretty good job, it's certainly not as difficult as some people put it.

It's a really interesting article, I was worried RAW support would take awhile because it's so drastically different. Hopefully Fujifilm has been sharing their methods with Adobe, Fuji's own tech seems quite perfect.

I wish I could get into Silkypix, but I'm set in my old ways.

For better or for worse, Adobe Camera RAW and to a lesser extent, Aperture, constitute the bulk of photographer's work flow solutions. To have to go outside of these two programs is not difficult, but it is "painful" in that it breaks their workflow and requires extra steps that add up over the course of several hundred images/day.

The in-camera RAW processing from Fuji cameras of late is very interesting, but poorly executed. There are many ways it could be better but to expect Fujifilm programmers to create user friendly software is really asking too much.

Silkypix, the less said about that, the better.

What Fuji doesn't is that pros don't mind upping sticks and going elsewhere if things don't happen quickly. No skin off my nose to sell the xpro 1 and get something else. So hurry up and give adobe and apple some info so I can get back to shooting!

I doubt many pros are using the X Pro 1 as their main camera yet. People whose income comes from their work are far more conservative than hobbyists. They might have a camera to use on certain occasions when comfort allows. Considering how different the X Pro 1 is from an SLR, there is a learning curve that needs to be followed to insure that their work gets the maximum benefit from the camera with no penalty. Plenty of time for all the RAW wrinkles to get worked on.

You are welcome. I am surprised that the most recent RAW update from Apple did not have the X Pro 1 in it. That must mean there is a higher level of difficulty than usual. Why Fujifilm won't speed this process up is anyone's guess.

My guess would be that almighty Adobe told Fuji: You know, we actually don't even take you seriously as a company and couldn't care less about spending our time and money on supporting your freak sensor, but since we are in a good mood today, we offer to dedicate the spare time of some of our B and C grade developers to write a module for the XP1, but only if you guys sign a contract that grants us, almighty Adobe, exclusive support and exclusive insight into your technology. Don't you dare to talk to Apple, DxO or anybody else, or the deal is off and Adobe will never ever again support one of your products.

That's how I would do it.
