FUJIFILM M MOUNT ADAPTER for X-Pro1

A mount adapter that allows the use of a wide variety of M Mount lenses on the X Mount camera body.
It is built with a three-part structure that uses optimum materials for each of the components, to accommodate perfect fitting with high precision.
The adapter also features electronic contacts for communicating signals with the camera body and a function button to allow users to easily choose necessary settings and functions (Shoot Without Lens, focal length settings, various image corrections, etc.). *
The bright frame, shown in the Optical Viewfinder mode, changes according to the defined focal length for easy shooting

Silkypix (RAW File Converter EX) will honor EXIF notes in the RAW for distortion and vignetting but not for color shading. The camera's internal RAW converter will honor all corrections (by choosing "REFLECT SHOOTING CONDITION"), but those corrections can't be changed after the fact when redeveloping a RAW in-camera. This may also mean that other changes (such as film mode, noise, color, shadows, highlights push/pull etc.) can't be applied in conjunction with the M corrections, I'll have to investigate this once I get my hands on the converter. The wording isn't really clear here.

Currently, Fuji will not provide suggested correction settings for supported Leica / Voigländer / Zeiss M mount lenses, but this may change in the future. Fuji is making no promises but says they will try.

Custom focal length settings for "lens 5" and "lens 6" in the lens menu will now be reflected in the bright frame of the OVF, as long as it's a setting between 18 and 60 mm. Lower settings will result in the display of 4 corner arrows, higher settings will result in the display of a fixed RED 60 mm bright frame. This means the OVF is now available (but not necessarily useful) with any focal length setting.

I have no indication for improvements regarding the magnifier tool (like: "support multiple magnification levels" or "don't block the tool as long as the camera is saving image files") or the introduction of "focus peaking". There also won't be any focus information visible in the OVF. I'm eagerly waiting for my copy of firmware 1.10.

my main concern is whether or not there will be focus confirmation in the ovf.

if there is, there is no DOUBT i will get this and buy my first piece of leica glass

I can't imagine there'd be focus confirmation - they're MF - how will it confirm focus?

imagine if Fuji could simulate a Rangefinder patch in the EVF? if there was a cam on the adapter if might just be possible.. ..yes, most likely wishful thinking..

I was thinking the same way it confirms the AF. Whenever the close or far center frames are in focus it could highlight green.

I *guess* it could be possible but I have no idea how realistic this is practically.

you know your nikon has focus confirmation for manual focus. you just set the focus point and then on the bottom left corner itll tell you which way to turn the focus ring until you get in focus, then itll come up as a dot.

could work the same exact way on the fuji. if the OVF has AF focus confirmation using the lens, then it could work the same way.

the difference being, and this is where i agree with you where it might not be realistic in a practical way... is on a nikon the "digital rangefinder" feature works well because you are actually looking through the lens

    That's great!
I was waiting for it, let's wait to see further reviews and sample images.
If they are ok, I may buy the X-Pro1...

I don't see any substantial difference between a Kipon or the Fuji adapter. The Fuji adapter unlocks a few new optical correction features when developing the JPEG in-camera. Silkypix and Raw File Converter EX will (try to) emulate these corrections, however sans the color shading. Photoshop, Adobe, Lightroom (and other RAW converters) most likely won't use the new metadata – maybe some third party developer will offer a plug-in, or users will make their own presets and share them online? I don't know, but I know this: Such presets / plug-ins could have been made years ago for any camera, any mount converter and any adapted lens. And yet, they don't exist (DxO isn't offering a "Leica M correction kit, NEX 7 edition" for Photoshop, Lightroom, Aperture, DxO Optics Pro etc.), I reckon the market is too small.

It can't work the same on the Fuji actually, because the nikon uses phase detect AF, and the fuji uses contrast detect. In order to confirm the focus point it has to actually pass the highest contrast point and come back to it in order to confirm AF - if you did that while you were manually focusing it would behave sloppily - especially if you moved the camera at all. While possible to do something to give feedback to the user, it would really be more reliable to just have something like focus peaking or a windowed magnified view of the focus point so you can visually confirm focus without losing your framing.

It's now available for pre-order at Adorama in the US: http://www.adorama.com/IFJXP1MA.html

They say it will begin shipping in June, but don't offer any specific date.

If there is peak focus within update 1.10, then it could be shown as an electronic addition in the OVF (like the other el. infos). Perhaps it has a slight deviation when focussing near, but I think it may work, deviation could be used as a "paralax hint"(?).

From what I've read, the elmarit 90mm 2.8 is not listed as one of the lenses it will correct for.

I thought the rear lens element - sensor distance was the differentiating factor between Fuji's adapter and the third party ones. Apparently the distance used by third party adapters is too small, causing light to fall on the sensor incorrectly rendering smearing and discolouration from wide angled M mount lenses....
