Fortarock festival: Devin Townsend Project gig (X10)

    Hi,

Last Saturday I went to Fortarock (metalfestival in Nijmegen, the Netherlands) and shot a series of the Devin Townsend Project with my X10 (that I could take with me without problems, cameras with changeable lenses were not allowed).
All images are shot at ISO 100, aperture priority, fully open. Normally when I shoot gigs with my X10 I (have to) use ISO 800 - 1600 but this was outdoors so I got nice (less noisy) files to work with. But the downside: I also got a couple of orbs...

The complete series can be seen at

    Enjoy!

    Thanks!
Although the gig only was 50 minutes, they did play a Ziltoid-track (By Your Command).

@ emong14: Yes, it was during daytime (and outside, the other stage was in a tent where I took a couple of shots of the Swedish band Meshuggah and had to use ISO 800 there). No flash used.

Some really really nice photos! Seems like the band are a dream to photo as they look pretty extrovert... Never seen or heard them before.

Let's see some shots of Meshuggah! My other favorite band!

Edit: Just wanted to share a photo I took of Devin AND Ziltoid a couple of years ago :)

Wow, really impressive shots from that camera ... really goes to show how quality these Fuji products are. Great contrast in all the shots, I bet the band would even like those photos for promotional use!

    Thanks all!
@emilsall, the Meshuggah-pics I shot didn't turn out that great (tentstage, bad lighting, lots of fretboard-staring). But perhaps I will process one or two later.
And I didn't expect Ziltoid to wear those kind of sneaker-socks by the way...

This is simply f****ing great work. Congrats! Strong expression and composition. I still haven't shown pics or written here, but this is really inspiring, because I recently did some shots at a small gig of a singer songwriter in a club with little more than candle light. The situation was a big surprise and I had to completely change my plans how to work with my new X 10 that evening. I'll show some of those fotos soon and ask my questions to all of you about how to handle those situations. Again: GREAT PICTURES, DigiDaan!

@DigiDaan - dude, these are some of the best gig shots I've seen, regardless of what camera they were taken on. Fantastic. Great Work! (and what a bloody good camera we own!!!)
