quick question ... I'm using a x Pro1, firmware version 1.01 ... I'm having problems with getting the DoF preview to work ... I've set the FN button to be DOF in the menus ... maybe I don't know what I'm doing but it just seems to toggle from optical to electronic display in the view finder and it dosn't seem to stopdown the lens? Is there another way to preview the DOF?

the only way to preview DOF is for it to switch to evf.
the evf is a constant DOF preview. it will always show your DOF
also, it should stop down the lens if the lens itself is stopped down.

That's not correct for normal EVF operation as the camera will choose a suitable aperture during normal EVF viewing depending on scene brightness for optimum image quality. If you want to have a reliable DoF preview, use said function, or else you can't be sure at which aperture your EVF image is being displayed.

ok been working on this and here's how it works (at least in AP and P mode). The problem is that, being used to SLRs and DSLRs, I'm used to seeing the lens stop down (go dim) when I kick in DOF preview. the Pro1 doesn't do that. It shows DOF but at the same brightness ... takes some getting used to ... And yes, it only works in EVF and when its working there's a small DOF symbol in the upper left corner.
