OVF not allowing VF only use?

Is anyone else experiencing issues with menus showing up in the LCD in OVF mode?

Here is a detailed explanation of what I'm experiencing below:
I'm not sure if my X100 started doing this or I just never noticed but I like to shoot without the LCD, I rarely use it. With this habit, I noticed some quirks/pet peeves of mine so this is all written from the perspective of keeping everything VF Only.

1a) When in OVF, hitting the Menu button always throws the display to the LCD. And although the view mode can be changed to VF Only, it doesn't seem to stick. Meaning once I exit out of the menu and go back in, it will be at the LCD again.

1b) Same when going into the camera settings (blue) menu. It always wants to display on the LCD in OVF mode and can only be changed to Eye Sensor mode by hitting the View Mode button with my eye held up to the VF.

1c) This also happens with any of the control dial menus such as Macro and Drive and WB mode but WB is the only one that can be changed to VF Only but it also doesn't stick just like the Menu. But with any of these, you can set it to Eye Sensor and it will stick and all show in the VF only when your eye triggers the sensor.

What that means is I can't really shoot discreetly in OVF mode and frankly, its a little annoying.

    2) When in AF-S/C mode, I have my AE/FL button set to lock focus only but once locked, turning the aperture ring does nothing and doesn't affect the outcome of the photos. So essentially, its locking both exposure and focus. It doesn't do that if the aperture is set to A though.

I'd like to know if my camera is the only one doing this or if its the same across the board. Also to note may be that my FW is only 1.21. I'll upgrade if that seems to be the culprit as I've been meaning to do it but just wanted to get feedback first.

    1) In Eye Sensor mode (fw 1.30) I can reach all menus and control dials in the OVF. Not, as you say in VF only mode though.

    2) This is a real bummer. I just recognized this problem 5 minutes before I read your post. What sick ingenious mastermind designed the firmware for this camera? Someone's having a laugh at us, methinks.

I just checked and my X100 is the same with regards to #2. What part of focus lock ONLY does Fujifilm not understand?
    Fujifilm Gear: F10, F20, F70EXR, XF1, X10, X100 (w/ Fujinon WCL-X100), S5 Pro, (w/Nikkor 24mm f/1.4, 35mm f/1.8, and 50mm f/1.2 lenses), Fujifilm GA645

And a freezer full of Fuji Neopan Acros and 400H film.

Clearly someone who hates Fujifilm and their products.

@hdahl100 So you mean on FW1.30, all menus pop up in the VF for you in OVF mode? If so, I may need to update my FW then.

And at #2, I think it may be meant for zone focusing since you can't lock focus in MF mode and a small bump can move the bar out of focus. I've been using AF mode to grab focus until the bar touches the infinity edge and lock the hyperfocal distance. A quick blip of the AE/FL button lets go of the aperture.

It sort of makes sense why but still a little backwards.
