Hi, is there any advise or tips for tone controls, particulary with black and white images to make them nice and punchy and contrasty?

when shooting B&W I like to do B&W Y filter, no NR, no sharpening and m-hard shadows, hard highlights

  • Very similar for me. B&W plus Red filter, no NR, no sharpening, hard highlights, hard shadows. Raw plus Jpeg (just in case). Just see what suits you!

I shoot RAW because I think that gives me a great freedom to create the tone in PP. Each and every image and subject calls for its own expression (except maybe if you're doing a public exhibition and need a personal style to manifest your work.)
