Hi all. I'm a new member from UK. I've been lurking for some time while waiting for my XP1 and 35 f1.4 which I now have.
I've been searching for (preferably) a Fotodiox or Kipon adapter to fit my Nikon F mount (D lenses with aperture ring) to my new XP1 - so far without luck. Nothing even on ebay UK or Amazon UK.
Perhaps someone here has purchased already and can tell me where to get them. Also, any information on how well they work and how good the results are.
    Thanks in advance.
    Vic
    Nikon D700/D300, 17-35mm, 24-70mm, 28-300mm, 50-500mm, 35, 50, 85, 135 and 180mm primes. Fuji XPro 1, Fuji XT1, Fujinon XF lenses - 14mm f2.8, 35mm f1.4, Fuji XF 60mm f1.4, 18-55mm f2.8-4 OIS, 55-200mm f3.5-f4.8 OIS.
  • Hi Vic,
I'm in the same boat as you, wanted to put my Nikon lenses onto my XE1 when I get it. Although I need the one for DX and G lenses as I want to use my 10.5 fisheye. I'm not seeing any on eBay australia but there seems to be international sellers (namely out of HK).

    eg. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Kipon-Nikon-F-AI-mount-G-DX-lens-to-Fujifilm-X-Pro1-X1-Pro-mount-Camera-Adapter-/350567475283?pt=US_Lens_Adapters_Mounts_Tubes&hash=item519f732853&_uhb=1#ht_3107wt_1144

I don't suppose you or anyone knows if the camera will still control the aperture with one of these? I could do it manually by handier if I could keep the camera set to A.

    Cheers!

  • How can camera set aperture. There are no electric contacts on picture of adapt that you post?

  • Yeh I wasn't sure if there was no contacts or I just couldn't tell from the pics. So be it. Will just enjoy the fun of going manual anyway. ;-)

    Thanks Greg,
I was able to order this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kipon-Nikon-F-Mount-AI-Lens-to-Fujifilm-Fuji-X-Pro1-X1-Pro-Mount-Camera-Adapter-/260991882738?pt=UK_Photography_CameraLenses_Lens_caps_hoods_adaptors_ET&hash=item3cc45415f2
which is specifically for non-G lenses i.e. for older lenses which have an aperture ring. The newer G lenses have no aperture ring and therefore require the adapter you found. It may have a crude 1,2,3,4,5,6, aperture setting on it. These both work in stop-down mode so you need to focus first then set the aperture as it will close and darken the viewfinder (although the EVF will tend to brighten to compensate). I suspect that in practice most us will be using apertures between max and f5.6 so there should be no problem.
    I have 35 f2, 50 f1.8, 85 f1.8 and 180 f2.8. I hope to add a used 135 f2.8 and a 24 f2.8, the latter more for use on my D700 as I'm selling all my FX zooms but one (walkabout 28-300).
When I have the adapter I'll test out the lenses on my new XP1 and post my findings as to their usability here. Of these I expect to mainly use the 85 (portraiture) and 135 (portraiture and events), as extras to my current Fuji 35mm and hoped-for 14mm and 18-55 zoom and these 3 will be my main kit.

  • Nice one Vic, congrats! Nice line up of lenses you have! I too have the 180mm which I'm dying to try on these x's. although I'm keen to trying it with the pn-11 extension as well. This has been a combo I've loved for macro on my nikon gear. Can't see why it wouldn't also be great on an x!

I'd like to hear more about how the view finder responds too if you get a chance. I'll be going for the xe1 and not so sure how it will be trying to stop down meter with the electronic viewfinder.

    We'll see! Thanks again.
