ok the first thing i need help with is the distance scale when shooting in mf mode ....the menu seems to be offerig the optio to disaable, nowever no matter how i try , or what display mode i choose i canot get it to vanish..... i want and like the distance scale , even though it works it seems for full frame instead of apsc, but to compose i sometimes just dont want it , its laying over of the image is pointless and stupid and interferes with composition

further there is a strip below it unused by the image rectangle that it could have bee placed in... a real blunder by fuji imho./

can anyone help me to disable it in mf mode? or is the firmware broken? as i suspect.

  • lol. I had it disabled but wanted it on, so I figured how to turn it on and now I can't figure out how to turn it off. May do a search and find out. However, it doesn't really intrude on the image, except at close distances and even then not by much. But if you want it off, that's probably all you can see.

my issue is it lies across the bottom of the image and several times it has screwed up framing along the bottom when i cut a tiny bit off on a tightly framed shot, why didnt fuji put it along the bottom next to the big letter m , i feel stupid not being able to turn it off after many attempts, lol

similarly when in camera crop is used a dark band is across the top of the image, why?
    its crazy.......

It appears that you cannot remove it in MF mode, only from AF modes.

logically speaking, you would need it more for MF than on AF. Because in OVF, you can't really see how is the focusing is doing and you have to rely on EVF. we all know EVF, no matter how good, will not be as clear as OVF doing manual focusing. The Distance scale is a confirmation of sorts.

the problem is i like to use M focus almost all the time, even though im actually AF- ing using the EFL lock button.... this to allow shooting multiple times of one AF search event , in other focus modes the focus motor refocuses each time i press the shutter button, this is annoying as i have already achived focus and want to shoot multiple without the delay and lag of the motor refocusing each time . i find mf to be the best mode for afing ironically with my x100 because of this

to me the focus is just as sure imho it can be trusted as much as other focus modes ... another added benefit is a continuous focus range , it isnt divided into macro and normal ranges that must be set each time one crosses the distance where they meet by diving into the menu, in m the camera autofocuses with the afl button at any distance from closes to infinity without a menu dive , i just would like to frame without the distraction across the bottom of my view ,i simply dont need the focus scale24\7

the distance scale is nice but there in no reason to put it over the image,,, there is room just below the image that is unused

it has interfered with image framing in a big way to the point were i had to take a shot several time and then confirm the bottom of the image in image review to be sure of a ibjects position in the frame

i hope this is addressed in firmware fix

i cant say I have personally found this an issue. I guess itd be nice if they move it out of the image but I doubt its very high up their list of fixes

  • ^ ditto. And I'm also using AF in MF mode as you are. Very great method and works amazingly well.
