What make and size of memory card are you using?
  • I have a X10 on preorder and was wondering about memory cards. I've been looking at this card in the new 95MB write speed...SanDisk Extreme® Pro™ SDHC™/SDXC™ UHS-I .

Using the Sandisk Extreme 30MB 8GB on the X100. Working very well. It seems running a couple smaller cards is preferable to a few larger, tried a 32MB version. Havn't tried the 95MB though.

I have been using my eye-fi pro x2 card on the x100 which is brilliant for transferring photos to my iPhone on the go for processing, tagging, rating and sharing. It is only a class 6 SDHC card though so is a bit slow for writing the 20Mb RAW files the x100 generates.

I have just ordered a Sandisk 8Gb UHS1 card though to speed things up a bit.
  • Use Sandisk 8 & 16 GB UHS1 Extreme Pro. Work perfectly. I don't like to use any larger than this in case of failure and the potential loss of a lot of images - more cards, smaller capacity for me.

    I agree with Chroaz. I use multiple 2GB cards. 1 x 8 GB extreme and 1 x 16GB.

sandisk.com It's a new card coming out sometime in November
  • SanDisk 8GB 30MB/s Extreme HD Video SDHC Card.
Fast enough for videos but maybe takes a bit longer for autobracketing in RAW (£15 at amazon uk). I do agree with many of you, the more cards the better, rather than a single larger one.

My main is a SanDisk 8gb Extreme HD video (I hate these meaningless model names they use) 30MB/s

Seems fine but I have some older cards for back up if that gets full and they seem fine too. I use them all in my Nikon D90 also.

  • Yup - I always format the card each and every time I put it into the camera

My Sandisk 8gb UHS-1 card arrived today. So much faster than all my older cards!

I did an un-scientific test. I shot 5 images in a row as quickly as possible with my Eye-fi Pro X2 (class 6) card. The camera was capturing Raw plus fine quality small jpeg. I started a stopwatch after taking the last shot and it took roughly 12 seconds for the camera to stop writing to the card.

I then did the same with my new UHS-1 card. To complete writing to card took just 3 seconds!

This is way more usable and relegates my eye-fi card to just when the wifi bit is handy rather than for everyday use.
  • Bought an 8GB UHS-1 card today as well. Lightning fast compared to my old Class 4. In real numbers the difference is between 4mb/s and 45mb/s, so it should be significant.

Feels a lot snappier, but not nearly as snappy as a proper DSLR.
