Love my Voigtlander 15 !

I purchased the XP1 with the idea of selling my x100. But I decided that I just couldn't part with the x100. Since the XF 18mm isn't really that much wider than the 23mm on the x100, I longed for a wider lens. The 14mm, of course, is not available.
So, last week I sold my 18mm and bought a Voigtlander 15mm f4.5. I have been using it on the XP1 and it is Fantastic! I knew these little gems had a good reputation, but I was amazed at the image quality. It is at least as good as the XF 18 in the center and much better at the corners. As a bonus it is tiny and light weight. Focusing is not an issue due to it's enormous DOF. I just zone focus and shoot away.
In concert with the x100, the 15mm gives me a kit with a much more useful range than I had with the 18mm. The Voigtlander works so well that I doubt I'll even buy the 14 when it comes out.

    I agree, pics please.
The CV12 works well evidently, but I always thought the CV15 was less suitable, corner sharpness and smearing, so I had read. If it does indeed work, I'm off to find one as well.

A friend loaned me his old well used Voitlander 15mm M Mount lens and I have been trying it out. It is fun to use and gives me about as wide (22m effective)as I want on the X Pro1 without being too exaggerated.

the fuji 18 is effectively a 27mm and the Voigt 15 is a 22-23 effectively ... I think I'd want both. I have the 18 but I've been thinking abour something wider. I think that one reason that the Voigt is better in the corners is because your only using the center of the lens???

mrflash .... is the V 15mm an "M" mount? are you using a Kipon adapter? How's the fit?

Brent ... Don't know where you live but the lens is in Australia .. the lens is a screw mount so you'll need an lens adapter ... screw mount to FX ... I "think" Kipon makes one .. I've heard that there are problems with some of the screw mounts that the lens doesn't center properly and the f-stop markings can be on the side or bottom rather than on top. My 15 is an M mount with a Kipon adapter (no I don't have any affiliation with Kipon) and it works great. That said, the price looks very good if the lens is in good shape. Also, it's an older version of the lens .. I don't know whether that matters.

Why is the EXIF data showing a focal length of 50mm?

  • I bought mine two years ago to use it on my Leica M4-P and Zeiss Ikon and tried it a few times on a GF1. It's a great little lens.
Just can't wait to slap it on the XE-1.

The X Pro with a manual lens on an adapter shows whatever the optical frame lines are set to. Mine were left at 50 because I don't use the OVF.

    Thank you,
I do not own the XP1, just the X100, waiting for the XE-1 to ship so I could use my arsenal of legacy lenses

I've used an Industar-61 on a GF1 with two adapters: μ4/3-M and M-LTM and it worked fine.
Intend to do the same with the XE-1 and check the results.
F/ markings on the bottom are not an issue, on mine they turned out on top, so Fotodiox did a good job on matching the threads perfectly.

  • My 42mm and 39mm adapters have set screws that when loosend permit rotation of the lens so that the aperture and focus rings are aligned with the top of the camera. Perhaps yours does as well.
  • I only have the 15
