If has just come out of a 1.5 year BETA and looks pretty good value.

The key thing is it's unlimited data and unlimited file size for $10USD/month.

I'm giving it a whirl.

For me the plus points are:

Unlimited storage - some users reporting they have over 10TB (TerraBytes) uploaded

Unlimited File size upload - I have some single 250GB sparceimage files I might backup on there

Backup and mirrored sync - I'm currently mirroring my 350GB 'Pictures' folder, so it is storred both locally on my Mac and synced to Bitcasa, any changes will be reflected in the scheduled sync

Encryption - fiels are 256 AES encrypted before upload so even employees of Bitcasa can't (easily) see teh content you have stored on their servers, just a load of one's and zero's

Price - $10USD = about £7 per month

The only downside so far is speed. Because the files need encrypting, there is an initial hit on large folders, and I am currently only uploading at 1MB/s and my fibre broadband allows 20MB/s up under ideal conditions... I estimate about 3 days to upload/sync my 350GB Pictures directory.

[See update below]

Hello X Series enthousiasts,

I love my new Fuji X10 but can't manage to get real reds in low light conditions.
The reds always turn out 'pink'. I tried using different film settings and White Balance. An Incandescent WB seems to help a bit, but it nowhere near what it should be. I have to manually correct the Magenta Hue in Aperture to get the right color, which is less than ideal. Am I missing something here? Is my camera defective? Please feel free to comment.

[Update : By default, the X10 turns reds into pink in low light environment only when TOO MUCH light enters the camera at once, like at a party, a concert, while taking photos of a Christmas tree with lights in it, etc. This seems to affect only the reds. To mitigate this problem, select an EV of at least -1. The photo will be darker, but you will get your reds back, and you can make the photo brighter again in the computer. I found that it works most of the time, but not when there is a important source of light, for example if you take a photo of a red candle with a flame, you won't be able to regain the reds, even at -2 EV. This "pinkish red" problem seems to also happen in the daytime, to a lesser extent. In the firetruck photo at the bottom of this page, the Santa Claus costume is a little bit pink. Maybe too much light was entering the camera when the shot was taken. Cheers!]

Having been a bit devoid of any real photo ops recently, I went back to a subject I'd been playing with a few months back - PinHole photography. Back then, I started off modifying a Canon dslr, then a old film slr with a home made PinHole (a section cut from a cola tin with a tiny hole punched in it, tapped to body cap with a larger hole drilled through). Anyway, boredom recently set in, so I went about 'modifying' a body cap for my X-E1 the same way. I'm not sure if this interests anyone, but here are a few sample shots. For the record, the only editing has been to remove signs of dust bunnies!

Getting it wrong with the sun!

And, because you can with the X-E1, a double exposure PinHole image

Finally, the 'converted' X-E1

Thanks for looking.

Nigel

So we were on vacation with my girlfriend last couple of days in beautiful region of Germany on confluence Rhine and Mosel. I took both my small cameras but my plan was to shoot only Fuji X100s to get used to it. My girlfriend used GX1 mostly with 43rd zoom 40-150 (little limiting, but only zoom I have). I didn't feel need to use anything more than X100s. It was a pleasure to shoot with it. Until now I wasn't really able to appreciate those all manual controls but in extensive use it's a swan song. Just take camera to eye, take picture, oh it's too bright for my taste, exposure comp. dial and shoot again…simple but flawless. My mode was mainly Aperture priority on F8 (sunny days, landscapes), auto shutter speed and auto ISO (max 6400), often ND filter enabled and often I jumped to full manual. What I really like is B&W on X100s so I often jumped to my C2 setting with B&W jpeg (+RAW). B&W jpegs works beautifully and here are my top shots I picked up (only run thru B&W and not colour shots). Most of them have only crop, frame lines in OVF are really "rough". Some of them has applied gradient in LR4 and some contrast/clarity/curve setting, but nothing groundbreaking mainly it's SOOC look. All my chosen shots can be seen here on Flickr set and five my favourite I'm adding to post.

…I'm in love with my X100s.

Best Value Fuji X Pro Grip Review

Having just received a cheap L Plate and Grip for my X Pro 1, I thought fellow forum users might like to read his mini review.
I have looked at the RRS and JLM grips longingly but couldn't really justify the cost; the RRS set would cost $230 plus VAT and import duties. So once I saw a cheap Chinese grip on ebay, I thought it was worth the risk.

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=Metal+Quick+Release+Plate/Camera+Handle+For+Fujifilm+X+Pro+1+&_sacat=0

Sold as a "Metal Quick Release Plate/Camera Handle For Fujifilm X Pro 1 and Tripod Ballhead, it looked pretty similar to the much more expensive grips but it was difficult to judge the quality from the photos. But at only £47.99 including postage, I felt it worth a gamble. I paid an extra £4 for faster posting and the grip arrived in six days from China.

Well packaged in a cardboard box, the grip was wrapped in bubble wrap, a plastic bag and a soft cloth, draw corded storage bag. Billed as 130 grammes it is made of CNC precision machined with surface anodised anti oxidation treatment. It arrived fully assembled and is extremely well made, each part fitting snugly together. My only (minor) gripe is that no allen keys are included to assemble/disassemble the grip/base plate/L plate but at this price who cares? To remove the L Plate requires a 4mm key so I had to search around for one to take the unit apart so that I could fix it on my camera. The overall finish is of a very high quality with no burrs or sharp edges. The whole thing is nicely finished with smoothed edges and black anodising.

The unit fixes snugly onto the camera, a screw fits into the tripod socket and can be tightened with a coin. The grip is rigid with no give or flex. Once attached, the grip adds a bit of weight and bulk which some may see as a drawback whilst others will find gives more control, provides an improved handhold and added heft. I fall into the latter category and think the vastly improved handling outweighs the added size and weight. The groves in the base and L Plate are Arca Swiss compatible and they work well with my Gitzo ball head and make switching between landscape and portrait format a breeze. All ports and the battery/SD compartment are fully accessible thus solving one of the most widespread complaints about Fuji's own grip.

Not having physically seen the RRS or JLM, I can't really make any valid comparison. I've been out shooting today and absolutely loved the grip and L Plate and cannot imagine a better product. I would be interested to hear comment on users of the other grips about their feedback. It will be interesting to see how things work out long term but there seems to be very little that could go wrong except perhaps the anodising wearing off.

So overall, I would say this is a fantastic product at an extremely competitive price and I am very pleased with my purchase. The only improvement would be the inclusion of allen keys.

I have also posted this on the Fuji X Forum and there are pictures for those interested.

Is that right?

What kind of settings do you use for zone focussing under different kinds of situation (eg sunny, cloud, rain, indoor etc)?

Im pretty new with digital photography, so hopefully some one can answer these questions :-)

Kind regards

Naruto

Longtime DSLR guy. I wanted to use something different for a different use of photography and a camera I'd take with me more. After MANY reviews I got the X-E1, literally yesterday. So, I charged it, updated the firmware, body and lens (18-55) and read (some) of the manual.

Today I had a work event that took me to the speedway here in Indy. I decided to take my new E-X1. I'll be using the DSLR gear for action photos there next week. Anyway, I figured this would be a good chance to get to know the camera.

The IRL drivers are in Indy for 2+ weeks. Many of them use motorcycles while staying here. For some this is home. In Gasoline Alley they park them along the interior of the fence. Below are some images I took today... Accepting its image data using PictBridge via a USB or infrared. I read that the fuji x20 supports pict bridge, but I haven´t been able to print from this camera. I tried a different one, the Canon T3i and it worked perfectly. ¿Has anyone tried to print from the fuji x20 using pictbridge?
