What a great explanation. 95% of the time I get such great results with the default "multi" metering, but I can really see a need for spot metering in those situations where there is extreme backlighting differences that could throw off the camera's "smart" meter. The camera doesn't always know what you are exposing for, and some situations may require a more artistic meter (your eye).
Next time I'll try cropping, HDR, shadow toning, cloning out the orbs, a different focus mode, maybe a different composition, maybe no lens cap, and I guess I'll have to get this SAB issue fixed too. Thanks for the constructive feedback everyone! ...What a great thread because of you guys! Many laughs!
4 new pictures up at @ http://500px.com/jesseleite It's been a challenge some days, but it's also been a joy getting to know this camera. Also, I just upgraded the firmware... seems snappier all around
Sad Eeyore (Day 11) by Jesse Leite
Daffy Dills (Day 13) by Jesse Leite
Cool Beans (Day 10) by Jesse Leite
Camouflage (Day 12) by Jesse Leite
My favourite of these ones is the Eeyore pic. I tried to make it look as depressing as possible and I think it shows! The last one (the snakes) I'm not as fond of, but it was something different. My son sure enjoyed the snakes though
PS. If you are on 500px, please head on over and "like"! Also, constructive criticism welcome!
I like how the ND function button now just toggles the ND filter without asking "on" or "off". Why doesn't the macro button do this? I hate having to click macro, only to have the camera ask me if i want to turn it on
That's great! What baffles me is that they don't mention MF in the firmware release notes? Also, they only claim that AF is faster for movie mode? Why wouldn't Fuji be advertising every improvement in their release notes?
Thank you! The candle pic process was cool: I opened it in Lightroom, converted to B+W, then spent half hour trying various edits. I ended up going with no edits because it looked best just simply converted to B+W with default settings!
