I made some leather protectors from a piece of old leather using a pair of scissors and a hole punch. The tongue from an old pair of shoes would be suitable source of leather.

Yes, a very simple DIY job with leather or silicon mat.

Silicon skins are now available for a lot of the Fuji range.

Used one on my X-M1 and just fitted a second to my X-T10.

They provide excellent camera body protection from straps andany other light knocks.

On Ebay from China circa £6 including postage.

I prefer this idea but the shoes are getting in the way of the viewfinder. Did I miss something in the instructions?

Reminds me of the silicone skin I put on my iPod back in 2005 :D 

I like how trim they are compared to a half-case. Do you feel like it wants to collect dust or lint though?
