DaveJenkins
Non-Fuji Flash on X-Pro 1 and X-T20 I've recently sold most of my Canon equipment and purchased an X-Pro 1 and X-T20 and a few lenses. I still have a Canon 580EXII flash and several Nikon SB28 units which I use both on-camera and in multiple flash setups. I also have several Yongnuo 622C transceivers. I programmed both cameras with the flash settings I normally use for weddings -- ISO 800, 1/125th second, f8, manual exposure. I tried both types of flash on each camera and ran into the following problems: 1. Both flashes and the transceivers work on the X-Pro 1, but nothing works on the X-T20. 2. On both cameras, when a flash is mounted with the above settings, the LCD/EVF are almost totally dark in normal room light. I can point the camera at a window or light source and see it, but otherwise, nothing. Is there a setting that will enable me to use the EVF while shooting flash? Do these cameras require a Fuji-dedicated flash? Unless I can solve these problems, I'm not going to be able to use the cameras for weddings and other work that requires flash on camera. So any help or guidance will be much appreciated.
veejaycee
Point 2. In screen setup "Preview exp/WB in manual mode" set to OFF. Below that "preview Pic effect". Set to OFF. Late model cameras have an extra pin which may be a problem but as far as I know bthe Nikon and Fuji flash will work but no TTL, only with the flashes own auto exp or full manual. Just FYI, the flash synch for the XT20 is 1/180 or slower (marked X). Incidentally this cheap Canon off-camera lead https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B003UDFMO8/ref=pe_385721_139387541_TE_dp_1 enables full off-camera automation should you buy a Fuji flash.
