GeoffC
I've just purchased an X-T3 and noticed a Capture One brochure inside it. The registration doesn't clarify the Express is a free download. Is it worth trying, or better to stick with Luminar3? (Though I'm not overly impressed with Luminar3!)
Christopher
You should try it out, Capture One handles Fujifilm RAW files really well.
GeoffC
Thanks Christopher, I've downloaded the Express version - I'll see how it goes
arjay2402
I downloaded the Express version out of curiosity when I got my X-T3 but to be honest I wasn't impressed. As an alternative to other photo editors, I have been using Affinity Photo for a few years now. Very good value for money (one off payment, no subscription and regular free upgrades) I can recommend it.
GeoffC
I have an XE1 converted to IR 590nm. Luminar3 doesn't recognise the RAW files produced, so Capture One is proving somewhat useful. Thanks arjay, Luminar was supposed to be a one-off subscription with updates, one payment saw me through upgrades from Luminar, to Luminar 2018, then Luminar 3. A new Luminar, Luminar 4 has an upgrade price! I'll browse Affinity. mmmm Focus Stacking ! (I too have an XT3)

GeoffC
The Express is a free download - not easy to realise that though! You download the whole, but after 30 days it loses some of the functions. Capture One isn't an easy one to use for Channel Swapping.
Krajan
I was actually so impressed over how easy it is to use with; so I bought the Fuji Pro version. And now (suddenly) all the menus and layout looks the same as all the tutorials
Dismason
I have used Adobe Photoshop CC and Luminar. Both Lightroom, PS and Luminar have been sensitive to crashes in my five year old iMac. Now when I've tried Capture One Express, it got me to buy the Capture One Pro license for Fujifilm. There are not as many functions and options as in CC, but I think the image files look much clearer with greater dynamics with Capture One. The best thing about it is that it is much faster than its competitors. I removed the CC from my computer and it became twice as fast after that. Capture One is a time saver. In my new Instagram portfolio (which I started three days ago), all images are converted from raw to jpg with Capture One Pro for Fujifilm: https://www.instagram.com/fujifilm_by_carl/
Ianmac
Ive used Lightroom for some time now but wont upgrade to Adobe monthly subscription. Following the comments in this thread I download a trial of Capture One Fuji version and have been finding my way (slowly) round it for the last few days. I am very impressed with the results. Much better than I can get from Lightroom and its faster to use. While I appreciate Im still on a learning curve, Im sure Lightroom's days are numbered on my PC. Ill wait 30 days to see what facilities are removed from the Fuji Pro version to evaluate whether the Free Version will suit my needs but wont hesitate to buy the full version if needed. Capture One is a raw processor, while Affinity Photo is a pixel editor (that processes the raw picture at the beginning of the process). Capture One definitely isn't bad, but I lack a dehaze option. Ianmac
Punished by Capture One for my enthusiasm Re my post on Sept 30th. In November I paid Capture One £129 for my Fuji version. On 8 December I am advised by Fuji Connect that there is an update to my Capture One. Checking this out, I find I have to pay £129 to Capture One to get the updated version. No graduated discount for recent purchasers of the 'Old Version' While selling me Capture One in November they knew a new version was about to be launched. Trying to make contact with Cap One is proving difficult. Their email system on their website refuses to accept my message Paying £129 for two months use of an old version of Capture One does not make me a happy chap. Ive been ripped off. Thinking of Cap One ? Be very wary of what it might cost you.

I asked a week ago about whether this latest Capture One was still 'free' under the original Express terms, and have yet to receive any response. Perhaps your update didn't acknowledge the existing licence key?

GeoffC
You might be in luck, soon! They've just responded to my question - though they didn't really answer it correctly.....
Ianmac
No luck. Capture One have not responded to my requests. Speaks volumes.
