Accessories for the Fujifilm X20

Recommended Posts

VishiSingh

Hi folks,

Here's an unboxing video of 2 cool new accessories I got for my Fujifilm X20:

The Thumbs Up EP-6S Silver thumb rest from Match Technical (http://www.matchtechnical.com/Pages/ThumbsUpEP6S.aspx) and the Red Bug soft release also from Match Technical (http://www.matchtechnical.com/Pages/Beep.aspx)

The products are both high quality, though some may say a bit of a "pimping overkill" :\">

Tim Isaac of Match Technical is fantastic to deal with - prompt, polite and professional, what else could you ask for!? :-bd

Maybe a very nicely engineered piece but £85 for a thumb rest? Thats a bit too extravagant for my wallet.

Almost half of what you paid for your camera @Sprool ! :)

I paid $5 for two (inc delivery) plastic ones and they have worked perfectly for well over a year. The price of any of the metal thumb rests is ridiculous.

I've just purchased the Lensmate version of the thumbrest. I'll post some pictures soon.

My XP1 thumbrest is metal but still only £7. Took a while to find because not many people make them - they are (and need to be) longer than the X100 or XE1/2 thumbrest.

I see there are thumbrests for the XT1 already but I'm don't think it needs one - so far.

I'm a new X20 owner (3 days!), and going to be in London in November. I found a list online of Marumi stockists from 2013, and it listed four which are close enough to be worth checking out:

  • Camera World in Wells St,
  • two in Tottenham Ct Road, and
  • York Photo in Galen Place, off Holborn Tube.

Does anyone have experience of these shops? I'd love to know if one is more plausible. Online, the Marumi ND 40mm is often listed as X10/X20 compatible. What I read here suggests its a bit hit=and-miss if they fit or not so I need a stockist willing to let me try.

The Tottenham Ct road shops are not camera specialists they are pressure sales people dealing in various electrical goods and promising much while providing little in the way of knowledge of service.

The other two are fine.

all those london outlets said "no stock" -every last one. So I'll be on ebay like everyone else.

I suggest people ring ahead unless (like me) you have a day to kill and want to be a flaneur: I enjoyed the walk from Tower Hill to Hyde Park, and visited these shops on the way.

I bought the latest type Lensmate product for my XE1. No set screw, secured by friction.

A shoe-mount spirit level is in place on my XM1 for discreet chest-level shooting.

I have to say after a few months, while I *love* the X20, and I'm having a bundle of joy reconnecting with M/A/S settings and the velvia mode.. the case, (its an original Fuji leather case for an X20 I got of EBAY) is U/S.

its worse than useless. those two press-studs at the bottom are just a hassle and it lives now in the half leatherbottom. But, and this is where I hold fuji pretty much to blame for a half-arsed job of design: not putting a trapdoor to the battery/SDcard was a huge mistake.

What where they thinking?

Interesting little article VishiSingh but on X20 there is rubberised thumb grip/support just before right strap metal attachment. My thumb found it naturally! By the way liked the idea of a shutter aid!
