Color shift with adapted lenses ?

Hi Alan. The auto white balance is a part of the problem, not the part of the solution. It can be easily confused by the lens coating. If you try shooting at a fixed white balance, say 3000K, the results from different MF lenses will be more comparable.

    EVF Lag

I've got "the problem" too, and it is very irksome - August 2019 X-T20. Found this thread via google search for EVF lag. Altho I have 4 older Fuji, I'm essentially a Canon user. I dipped my toe in the mirrorless world via the Canon RP, which I returned primarily due to EVF/LCD issues. Selecting between the two on the RP requires a Menu dive - not practical on-the-fly. (Also, the sensor is so hyper, it turns off the LCD when you go to make setting changes with your finger.) Switched to the T20 because of the presence of the EVF/LCD switch (which turned out to be a four-way switch - a bit cumbersome, but still OK.). Like the posters, I need the LCD for settings changes. Don't really know why this problem even exists; the sensor should turn on the EVF instantly. I bought this camera to improve my airborne pix, which I do a lot of. Over 6 weeks and several thousand shots, my relationship with this camera has had a lot of Love/Hate, with periods of "she's going back." But, in the end, I decided to keep her because she is doing what I wanted her to do - significantly improving the sharpness of my flying pix - even bought a second lens. But - waiting for the EVF to come alive, and flying the plane at the same time, is definitely a negative. The Fuji is tough to shoot with - lack of a PASM dial - and especially custom setting selections - is a big drawback. For my flying, I carefully set up the camera before engine start - sort of like my cockpit checklists - and mostly leave it "as-is" for the entire flight. Unfortunate, since I like to take multiple shots with multiple settings, but playing with the camera controls and flying the plane are a bad combo. If Canon comes out with an RP Mk 2 or some such that resolves some of my issues, I could see returning to the fold. Meanwhile, the T20 has become my cockpit-only camera, which is what I wanted it for in the first place. Thanks for letting me post as a guest. Bob B.
  10. Help help! My aged X10 is still working like a treat apart from a super irritating problem: the shutter button no longer engages the camera when pressed halfway. It will still autofocus and take pictures when the button is fully pressed but I can't focus and lock focus halfway. I have reset the camera etc. but it seems there is a lack of connection between the button and the camera. Has anyone encountered this problem or got any suggestions? (I'm a creature of habit and love this camera but having to use the manual focus just takes too long when taking snapshots)
  11. I was so disappointed in my ebay purchase of an X-M1 body when I attached a lens and pressed the shutter button and nothing happened. Thanks to all the posts on this thread, all is well. That thread made me smile with glee, and now I am ready to see what my old vintage lenses can do. Thanks all!

    Viltrox 85mm f/1.8, anyone?

Thanks much. I'll be very curious to hear your initial findings as 1) it's priced reasonably and 2) it has the circuitry to work with the camera, including autofocus and at least aperture-priority autoexposure.

I just experienced the exact same issue with my XM-1. Were you able to fix this issue?

    Capture One

I have an XE1 converted to IR 590nm. Luminar3 doesn't recognise the RAW files produced, so Capture One is proving somewhat useful. Thanks arjay, Luminar was supposed to be a one-off subscription with updates, one payment saw me through upgrades from Luminar, to Luminar 2018, then Luminar 3. A new Luminar, Luminar 4 has an upgrade price! I'll browse Affinity. mmmm Focus Stacking ! (I too have an XT3)

    Capture One

I downloaded the Express version out of curiosity when I got my X-T3 but to be honest I wasn't impressed. As an alternative to other photo editors, I have been using Affinity Photo for a few years now. Very good value for money (one off payment, no subscription and regular free upgrades) I can recommend it.

Color shift with adapted lenses ?

Good Afternoon I have a good collection of Leica M and Voightlander lenses. I was attempting to compare the corner to corner sharpness of my primes with my 16-50 kit lens at various focal lengths. All images were shot RAW and post-processed in Luminar 3. I tested the Color Skopar 21mm, the Ultron f1.9 28mm, an f3.5 35mm Summaron and a 35mm Pre-Asph 35mm Summacron, a collapsible 50mm Summacron from the 50s, and Pre-Asph 50mm Summacron from the 70s. All images were shot in with my XPro2, ISO 800, aperture priority mode, in broad daylight at f8, and the camera's shutter speed set to auto. The camera was also set to Auto White Balance. To my surprise all the images displayed excellent corner to corner sharpness. However the the images shot with the kit lens all seemed "warmer" than the comparable manual primes. The early Leica lenses displayed less contrast, but there was very little color shift between them and the other lenses. So here is my question. While I can understand color shifting between lenses, especially from different years, why didn't the camera's auto white balance correct for the differences? My tests were by all means not scientific, but the color differences were noticeable. Any thoughts ?

    Luminar

When Luminar was first suggested as an editing suite, it was mooted it'd be a once only price, and Luminar 3 was a 'free' upgrade. I notice Luminar 4 is expected, probably to take over from Luminar 3 - but at an upgrade cost. Hope it's worth it!

    The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

Old Dutch Church of Sleepy Hollow and Old Dutch Burying Ground, 430 North Broadway, Sleepy Hollow, NY 10591, 914-631-4497. Founded around 1685, this is the church and churchyard that appear in Washington Irving’s short story “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” It is often confused with the adjacent but separate Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. The church’s 2.5-acre burying ground is, of course, the purported haunt of the headless horseman, and also the resting place of local citizens who likely inspired Irving’s characters of Katrina Van Tassel, Brom Bones, and others in “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” “Indeed, certain of the most authentic historians of those parts, who have been careful in collecting and collating the floating facts concerning this specter, allege that the body of the trooper, having been buried in the church-yard, the ghost rides forth to the scene of battle in nightly quest of his head; and that the rushing speed with which he sometimes passes along the Hollow, like a midnight blast, is owing to his being belated, and in a hurry to get back to the church-yard before daybreak.” —The Legend of Sleepy Hollow See the album here.. https://flic.kr/s/aHsmFm7xgV

  24. Hi. I'm new to the forum. I have an X100T. I also have kids. After I found out one of my kids had messed with the camera, I noticed the command dial was broken. It is stuck in the depressed position. It rotates but it's hard to turn and does not have any effect no matter what mode I'm in. Two questions: Can it be replaced? Is there a way to just get along with out it, moving its functions to another part of the camera interface? Thanks for any help you can offer!

    E-X3 front dial question

So far nobody has chimed in with advice or comment. After spending more time with the X-E3 now, I'm realizing (unlike the X-T3) I can only use the front dial to control aperture on lenses without aperture rings. My frustration arose because I usually use primes with aperture rings. Oh well. I hope this gets addressed with the next firmware upgrade so I don't have to wrestle with my stubborn muscle memory each time I switch between cameras. Any of you in the grey haired demographic know what I'm talking about. Thanks for the opportunity to whine.
