well, in the end I made up my mind and I didn’t go for the older 8mm 3,5 but I bought the Samyang 8mm 2,8. After much thought and considerations, I bought the older version of the 2,8 version ( there is a newer one called II which is usable also on FF cameras and among other things has a different rear element to optimize the light distribution on a larger sensor but that feature is really not useful on an aps-c sensor). I have also abandoned the ideas of de-fishing because I own a 10-24mm too and de-fishing the 8mm with almost any method, implies cropping the image losing the advantage of a few extra degrees.

  4. Thanks Koban, at the time I wrote that post that you’ve quoted there wasn’t any in the NL. Later on I have obviously bought one ( Kamera Express) because I left another post commenting on it! Thanks anyway.

    Lens Rebates

Rebates are often, but is not always the case, the forerunners of something which will soon change on the offer of a certain product. Cash backs , for example, are welcome by the shops because they guarantee the shop’s margin to be the same as the one shop counted on when they bought their stock. Incredibly, because this hasn’t happened before when cash backs and rebates were offered in the UK and outside the EU, as for example in the US, now even in the Netherlands there are some cash back rebates offered at some shop. I bought several lenses just few months ago and after three months the 60mm macro and the 10-24mm cost each(!) €150 less. Not very nice for me nice for those who are going to buy the lenses at this price. Of course these things happen but you can’t help being left with a bitter taste in your mouth and the distinct feeling that you were dealt a bad hand.

, some time ago someone suggested that I could use some neoprene caps like these

In the NL hiring any of these two lenses ( let alone even simply finding a shop which stocks both)is not an option normally offered by any of the few places which offer rental ( where, at most you can hire more mainstream products).

    Wireless connection

The connection with my LG phone sometimes requires me to perform several attempts before the connection is being established and I have only used it to shoot remotely, but I haven’t been, as yet, able to successfully download, on my phone, a picture shot with my camera. I would suggest removing the app that you have downloaded from your phone and download it again because it might have been corrupted when downloading, re install and try again. I agree the suggestion to change phone is an idiotic one!

I am glad that you concur that these two lenses are VERY different. So, thank you for your advise but I still prefer a direct comparison and perhaps I might be so lucky to find an informed person who will help me in my endeavor.
  10. just wrote this in my other thread. Just got one myself. Certainly nice to have but If I have to be really honest, unless you have lost the original one ( although to take that one out I almost had to apply quite a deliberate effort to that, I can’t see how this could have happened by chance) you might not find this absolutely indispensable. Yet it improves your “ contact” with the image isolating some more parassite light and that can’t be a bad thing

    XT-1 eyecup

Just got one myself. I have ordered it yesterday right after I got a mail announcing that they were available and was delivered to me moments ago.
